If you are able to contribute, we are organizing a clothes donation this Saturday, October 31st at the EMSA headquarters (located in the right wing, first floor, room A2-1-3), between 11:00 – 14:00.

Evolutionary Biomechanics

Our body remains with us for the entire duration of our lives, and it is therefore imperative to learn about its biomechanics so as to maintain it.
In this day and age, we are constantly being told to walk, run and exercise, but how do they all affect our musculoskeletal system now and as we age?
Due to an ever-ageing population, osteoarthritis has become one of the largest burdens on health systems worldwide. In response, numerous innovations for exercise rehabilitation have been conjured, one of which will be explored during this conference.

5. Following your application, you are expected to show up – if not, you will be banned from attending any events by EMSA Iasi.
6. You must have a Microsoft Teams account (with an UMF Iasi domain) in order to join the conference, to which you will be added in due time.
7. We will start the call 15 mins before the scheduled time.
8. As the maximum number of attendees is 250, only those selected will be added to the Microsoft Teams group in due time. If you haven’t been added, your application was outside of the 250 limit and you will unfortunately not be able to attend.

OCTOBER | Physiotherapy Awareness Month

Physiotherapy is the use of evidence-based kinesiology, health education and exercise prescriptions that originated around 460 BC with Hippocrates and Galen being amongst the first practitioners.
A common worldwide misconception is that Physiotherapy is a medical aid that involves athletes with musculoskeletal injuries, but this could not be further from the truth.
Physiotherapy can be used to treat all people affected by acute and chronic injuries, illnesses and disabilities.
Cardiac patients and cystic fibrosis patients benefit greatly from manual therapy to clear excess secretion from the lungs, but physiotherapy can benefit a plethora of body systems: neurological, integumentary, geriatric and orthopaedic conditions.

5. We won’t reply to any private messages regarding the selection.
6. An applicant that confirmed his spot and does not show up will be BANNED from any other activity held by EMSA Iasi for the rest of the academic year.
7. The selection process and lists are strictly only done and in the hands of the President and Vice President.
8. If you applied and received a selection sms but can’t attend, we expect you to reply to the sms stating you ‘CAN’T ATTEND’ – if you do not reply or do not attend, you will be banned from any other activity held by EMSA Iasi.

To ensure this safe and healthy environment, EMSA will implement the following procedures in response to the COVID-19 pandemic:
– Upon arrival, the temperature of each team member and student will be taken.
– Everyone is required to wear masks and gloves.
– Hand sanitizer will be provided. Prior to entering, each student must sanitize their hands properly. The equipment used will be disinfected between each student.
– Social distancing shall be observed.
– Students suffering from symptoms cannot attend this event.

The Impact of COVID-19 on Mental Health & How To Cope With a Pandemic

The coronavirus pandemic is heavily impacting the mental health of people, even those not directly affected by the disease.
Depression, anxiety and suicide are among the mental health disorders to have tremendously increased throughout this period.
During this crisis, one of the ways to positively impact mental health is to properly address and recognize it in order to improve it.
This conference aims to address the effects of the current pandemic on mental health and how to protect ourselves and others, with expert knowledge and insight by the university psychologist, Ms.Corina Dondas.
