Basic Skills in General Surgery: Intestinal Occlusions

with Dr. Miler Ancuta Andreea, PhD, Dr. Soroceanu Radu Petru, PhD, Dr. Andone Cosmina, Dr. Wesam Al Hroub

  • Intestinal occlusions, also known as intestinal obstructions, occur when there is a blockage in the intestines that prevents the normal flow of food, fluid, and gas. This blockage can occur in the small intestine or the large intestine (colon) and can be caused by various factors such as: adhesions, hernias, tumors, intussusception or volvulus. Prompt medical attention is necessary to diagnose and treat intestinal obstructions, as they can lead to serious complications such as tissue damage, perforation, and infection if left untreated.
  • Join us on Tuesday, 16th of April, to simulate the repair of this condition on animal models. You will gain both the theoretical and the practical knowledge needed to carry out a surgical repair on bowel obstructions.
